As preppers we sometimes get lumped into one category by the main stream media and this could not be further from the truth. Preppers come from all sorts of different backgrounds and most of us are not like the people you see on Doomsday Preppers.
We are average everyday people that choose to take our lives into our own hands and although it is hard for people to believe, I think we have a better grasp on reality than most people in the United States today. I could be wrong…but I doubt it.
Fire is near the top of a short list of the mandatory survival list. Fire keeps you warm, provides signal for emergency rescue, helps you purify water, cooks food, and increases morale.
Food, water, and shelter are relatively easy to acquire compared to fire. The hard truth is that without fire, safely consumable water and food are virtually impossible and shelter has limited value. All of this leads us to one conclusion: fire is mandatory for survival.
My wife and I recently went on a Labor Day Weekend backpacking trip in a wilderness area in Northern New Mexico. The high altitude scenery was breathtakingly beautiful and the terrain was intimidating. 11,000 foot peaks surrounded a high alpine lake with several waterfalls and streams flowing in. Big horn sheep dotted the areas above the treeline while virgin evergreen forest blanketed the steep mountain sides. We had a grand opportunity to have no other campers around so we shared the lake with a half dozen chipmunks while the wild sheep looked down upon us. [Read More...]

This time of year brings out the best in people. Houses are dressed up with festive decorations, and a lot of people are happy, wishing happy holidays and Merry Christmas to those they pass on the street. People tend to be a little nicer, and hopefully look forward to the gatherings with their friends and family. So why not take this opportunity to give the gift of preparedness.
With this happy time of year, will come giving of gifts to friends and relatives. Most of the time, people give gifts as a gesture so the receiving party knows that they were remembered by the gift giver. But sadly, many gifts are either forgotten, re gifted, are tossed into the trash, when the gift giver isn’t looking. So many times, people run out and spend money just to do it, and be able to give a gift to someone without putting any thought into it. [Read More...]
In this episode I go over some of my fears about what the real story about RIMPAC is and how even if it is a simple exercise like they say it is it still sets a precedent for future occurrences that might not be an “exercise.” With our governments overspending and our national debt piling up I just cant see how an economic collapse is not inevitable. Who knows if it will be a total collapse or something smaller, but if we continue building this house of cards, at some point it is going to fall.
Also in the podcast I talked about the Prepper Chicks After Dark show that Lisa and I were invited to and had a great time doing it.
Are we setting a precedence for an impending economic collapse? It seems as though everyone is worried about an economic collapse these days, and for good reason.
With our governments reckless spending and tendency to print money or raise the debt ceiling whenever they want they are digging a hole that is too deep to get out of.
A trillion dollars is hard to wrap your mind around, so let’s take away a few zero’s and turn this into something we can understand.
Let’s say you earned $25,000 a year, but you spend $35,000 and on top of that you are already in debt $170,000. How long would it be before everyone you owed money to come and took everything you own and left you and your family on the streets? [Read More...]
You won’t be fighting soccer moms and bargain hunters this time, you could be fighting for your life.
Prepare For The Real Black Friday
Every year, the Friday after Thanksgiving millions of people rush out before dawn in order to get the best deals, and find the perfect gifts for Christmas for their friends and loved ones. They trample each other, bursting through the doors of the store hoping to be the first one to the best deals the store has to offer. There is pushing, pulling, rude behavior, and everyone is out for themselves. They are not thinking about the mother they just stepped on to get to the top requested item on every child’s Christmas list. A frenzy ensues as there is only so many of the one thing that everyone wants. [Read More...]
This week we talk to J.D. Dutra about the card game Conflicted and why this is way more than just a prepper game. This is a prepper tool that we can all use to mentally prepare ourselves if the SHTF. We hear all the time about how we need to have food, water and supplies ready when a disaster hits, but sometimes how we prepare mentally is overlooked.
J.D. was a great guest and I want to say thank you to him for being on with me. The thing that struck me about J.D. was the fact that he actually knows his stuff and is not just out to make a buck. J.D. does what the rest of us do, he just wants to do his part in getting the word out about the importance of preparing.
Some of you may have heard about this game, some of you may not. When I first heard about Conflicted the game I though the same thing most people do, it looked like a great game for the kids but I’m an adult, I might play it on holidays, but that’s it. But is Conflicted a game, or is the game Conflicted a learning tool?
The truth is this is more than just a game, this could be a valuable learning tool for preppers and survivalists to not only test their knowledge, but to get some idea about how your family or friends will react during a crisis. It could honestly give you a better idea about who you might and might not want by your side in a SHTF scenario. [Read More...]
