I’m on with Grumpy Acres Farm in today’s show to discuss the prepper/homesteader spectrum and how we all fit into it. While some have no desire or ability to become a homesteader, the longer you prepare, the closer you get to the Homesteading or Prepsteading end of the spectrum. It all depends on how far you want or can take it.

We’ll also discuss how bartering & trading are affected by where we are on the prepping spectrum and how much effort we’ve put into building a community and support structure.

When it comes to bartering, we think about Bic lighters and batteries. While this may be necessary in a full-blown SHTF situation, having goods and skills to trade with the neighbors will be helpful in many different crises.

It will be much safer to barter & exchange goods with someone you know and trust, like a friend or neighbor, than a stranger.

It is important to consider the impact & benefits of having a solid network of like-minded individuals to rely on during uncertain times, and increase our ability to weather various potential crises.

Survival and being prepared should not only be a passion, it should be a lifestyle. The definition of a prepper is "An individual or group that prepares or makes preparations in advance of, or prior to, any change in normal circumstances, without substantial resources from outside sources" Like the Government, police etc. I don't believe that the end of the world will be the "end of the world" I believe it will be the end of the world as we know it now. Prepper is just someone who realizes it is better to be prepared for circumstances that life presents to us. Rather it is a health situation, financial situation, or a world changing situation. If you are prepared, you do not have the stress of having to deal with a situation immediately. You give your self a buffer to address the situation appropriately. During your unexpected situation, you do not have to worry about paying your bills or going to the grocery store, etc.
I think in thinking about our preparedness, it grows into homesteading, bugouts, bartering etc.

I did not know how to make a comment on the podcast. So I used this. I all honesty, I am technically challenged.
