Who is This Book For?

This is not your typical survival and preparedness book, you will not find a list for items you need in the event of a disaster. What you will find is the information you need to build your supplies evenly over time, what to expect from others who are not prepared, form a plan based on our personal situation and do it in a way that helps you become more self-reliant over time.

As you become interested in preparing it can be pretty intimidating, not to mention a little overwhelming in the beginning when you trying to figure out your plan of action.

The reasons we become interested in preparing and survival can be different for everyone, It could be that something catastrophic happened in our lives, it could be that we have that uneasy feeling that something catastrophic is likely to happen or it could be that we have always had “prepper tendencies” and we want to take it a step further before it becomes too late.

Regardless of why we start prepping, or what disaster you are trying to prepare for, I firmly believe that we need to be prepared for anything and we can’t afford to put all of our eggs in one basket only to get surprised by something we were completely unprepared for.

Sometimes we can get overwhelmed by all the trinkets and gadgets we need to have to “be prepared” for or survive a disaster, but to me this is not what preparing is about, preparing is about becoming as self sufficient as you possibly can. The skills and knowledge it takes to be prepared far outweigh the benefits of these new, shiny and sometimes expensive toys.

I’m not saying we don’t need some of these supplies, but we need to keep in mind that all of these supplies could be taken away leaving us with only what we have stored in our heads.

It’s important to take a step back and look at the big picture. While it’s important to know how to make a fire and purify water, it’s also important to think about why you might be in that situation in the first place. Understanding how others will react to disaster situations and how our own family handle stressful situations could determine how the events will unfold, knowing how to handle these situations in advance could give you the upper hand and give us better odds for survival.
