This week I discuss the importance of getting back to the basics of life, and learning from history to become better prepared and better all around preppers. Laying a good foundation to build on starts with knowing where you stand and what your situation is, preparing yourself financially and mentally will only help you prepare for your family’s future.
Educating yourself about history and current events will allow you to see the bigger picture that most either Americans can’t see, or choose not to see. Learning how to use your environment and resources is critical when it comes to you surviving any unforeseen situation.

History Lessons
Like the saying goes “if you do not learn from history, you are doomed to repeat it” I feel that the more we know about what has happened in the past, and how people lived through it, we become better prepared and get a clearer picture about what we can do in these situations. The great depression is a good example of this.
Saving Money And a Free Budget Planner
I created a budget planner to help keep track of my bills, and if you think you might benefit from it you can download it on this post about reducing debt. The reason I created this planner is because I don’t feel comfortable putting my banking information all over the internet or the many different programs available…I wanted one that only I had access to.
I did a video about how to use the budget planner so if you decide to use it watch the video first…and email me if you have any other questions, I’m more than willing to answer questions.
That same post also has the 10 money saving tips that I talked about in the podcast.
Aquaponics
I also talked briefly about our plans to start an aquaponics garden, and I use the word garden loosely. It might take a while for me to be able to consider it a “garden” But gardening could become a useful skill, and a needed skill if the grid were to go down. If the grid were to go down we would be totally cut off and left to fend for ourselves. This is why water storage and food storage are on the top of everyone’s list.
