This week in the show I talk to Kyle who spent 40 days in the wilderness testing his skills. We all like to think we could do this (and probably could) but it would take more than we think. There are a few different aspects to look at when it comes to survival in the wilderness, the mental aspect is one of them. We are so used to being distracted by noise that when our brain has no other source of stimulation it begins to make it’s own.

Kyle also shared a huge list of the supplies he took on this trip with him, you can download that PDF here.

Should I raffle off a Springfield XDS .45 ACP?

I asked the question in the podcast to see if there was enough interest in this to go ahead with it. you can either leave a comment below or email me at dale@survivalistprepper.net.

Here is the email that Todd sent me:

Todd here in SD.  I bounced an idea off you for a gun raffle   When I got my FFL I did it with the intention to sell firearms at highly competitive (i.e. cheap) prices, in order to put firearms into the hands of law abiding, second amendment supporting, people.  All sales I do are above the board, no illegal crazy stuff that is going to end me up in prison.  The penalty is 10yrs and $10,000, I don’t know about you, but I am to pretty to go to jail!  Hahah!  Anyway…

I have a Springfield XDS .45ACP, it is brand new, in the box, has been sent back to Springfield and upgraded.  They returned it to me with an additional extended magazine and an additional small carrying case.  The XDS is in the inventory of my FFL, and ready to find a new home.  So you know I am not BS’ing you or trying to pull a scam I have attached my FFL which shows my business name and address where the business is located (home-based).

With all that said here is my thought, and I am bringing it to you cause I like your Podcast and I want to support you in a way that could work out for the both of us, so here we go…

Tickets are $20 for one or $25 for three, and a minimum of $520 worth of tickets needs to be sold, $520 is the what I would need to cover the cost of the gun and shipping it to the winner.

Once you close the raffle select a winner, notify the raffle winner and myself, then I will contact the raffle winner and let them know that I need them to send me a local FFL where I can ship the handgun to.

Once I have received the payment and the local FFL I will ship the firearm off to the winner.  There would of course be a couple exceptions that would have to be known:

California is out.  Sorry, but this particular firearm is not California legal and I don’t want to attempt to make it California legal.

2. Not available outside the United States.  I do not have an import/export license and unwilling to send to an overseas location.  It’s that whole jail thing mentioned above!

3. The raffle can only include those 21 and older, it is illegal to sell a firearm to anyone under 21

4. I will only ship to a licensed FFL, like I said, 100% by the book, Todd don’t wanna go to prison!

5. The winner might have to pay an additional FFL transfer fee.  This is a fee that a local FFL might charge to do the paperwork.  I usually charge $15, some FFL’s charge $20+.

If the winner is in SD I would have to add 6% sales tax, that whole law thing about charging sales tax in the state you live in.

At $20 per entry a minimum of 26 “tickets” would have to be sold, I’m willing to bet that you have more than 26 listeners over the age of 21.  If people paid $25 for three entries a total of 21 “tickets” would have to be sold.  Like I said, anything over the initial $520.00 you and Lisa keep.

A little about me

I am retired USAF (21 years), an Oathkeeper, NRA member, and an FFL Holder (you have my license).  I also work for the Federal government at the Air Force Financial Services Center on Ellsworth AFB, SD.  It would make ZERO sense for me to try and screw anyone being that you have this email and my license if you needed to sick the law on me! I have this same deal going on with the Oathkeeper group on the East side of South Dakota, I’m actually good friends with the East River Coordinator (Jeff Shawd), you can look him up on FB, and ask him about me if you want.

If this “raffle” was to go well, and it seems like it is well received by the listeners, I would be willing to do it again with an AR style rifle, a hunting rifle, a .22, and the list goes on.  If we were to do it again, with a long gun, we would be able to include people 18 and older, wonder if Teenaga Prepper has an AR?  There would, of course, be restrictions.. CA, NY, NJ, IL, or any other communist state would not be included.

What do you think? I think it sound great, just let me know.

Survival and being prepared should not only be a passion, it should be a lifestyle. The definition of a prepper is "An individual or group that prepares or makes preparations in advance of, or prior to, any change in normal circumstances, without substantial resources from outside sources" Like the Government, police etc. I don't believe that the end of the world will be the "end of the world" I believe it will be the end of the world as we know it now. I definitely like the idea of a raffle! I certainly would love to see one for an AR-15.

Another great podcast, excellent guest, it was interesting to hear what Kyle had to say on the subject, certainly something I would love to to at some point in my life.
