What First Aid Supplies Do You Need?

Podcast Logo

Knowing what first aid you need in your bug out bag is just as important as knowing how to use them. Today on the show we have Lisa here to discuss  first aid supplies you need in your car, your home and you bug out bag and what the differences are. The supplies you will need in your car is completely different than what you will need at home.

We also went over why it is so important to learn all the skills you can because you never know when someone in your community with different skill will no longer be around. It’s great to have a nurse around, but if something were to happen to them you would need to have some basic wound care and medication skill and knowledge.

Survival and being prepared should not only be a passion, it should be a lifestyle. The definition of a prepper is "An individual or group that prepares or makes preparations in advance of, or prior to, any change in normal circumstances, without substantial resources from outside sources" Like the Government, police etc. I don't believe that the end of the world will be the "end of the world" I believe it will be the end of the world as we know it now. I really like your podcast but I have to say that your first aid podcast really missed the mark. As a retired fire chief and a paramedic and instr for 26 years your guests comments about going to access the accident victim left out the first golden rule . Making sure you are safe as the rescuer . Most RNs that don’t have a EMS background and post lay people should probably not stop . Because they get hit by cars and Killed .

I am sure that she has a ton of experience with dealing with wounds in the Hosp but that can be a very different environment in the field . Most EMS services where I have been don’t even carry 2by 2s

      Thank you

I really enjoyed this podcast. I pride myself with my first aid kit (which is actually a tool box) because of the various items in it. After hearing Lisa talk about the scissors I had to laugh as I am sure the pair I purchased wont do much. Needless to say I will be looking into the pair she talked about along with a few of the other items. Thanks and I look forward to hearing more from Lisa in the future.

Thanks Vicky! I laughed when she told me about getting scissors from a horse tack website haha

      Hi Dale
I’ve just discovered your podcast and find you very easy to listen to, so have subscribed. Being new to proper prepping, going through thought process of what we (my family) would need to survive and great length of time. The first key thing is Levothyroxine to control thyroid disorders. In the event of not being able to get hold of this, are you aware of any alternatives that can be stored or source to provide a fighting chance.
      cheers
      Ian.
