Podcast LogoAny grid down event could last anywhere for a few hours to a few months. preparing ourselves to handle these smaller situations and preparing for something that takes us months to recover from require more than just a flashlight and some batteries. There are many different scenarios we need to take into account that go far beyond just the power being out.

Knowing how people are going to react to a situation should dictate what and how you are preparing. Where you live will and your family situation will also play a role, different situations require different planning and skills.

It is not only important to have the supplies necessary, but the skills to go with those supplies as well. It does you no good to have a suture kit if you have no idea how to stitch a wound. I wrote a post about what we discussed in this podcast and part two which is coming next Thursday. This week we went over some of the medical skills you will need, and next week we go over other skills and self defense.
