SPP080 Prepping Problems And SolutionsOn our never ending journey to Becoming more prepared there are quite a few roadblocks we have to over come. Let’s face it, prepping is not brain surgery, but it can feel like it at times. Sometimes it can feel like we need 100 things done right now but our budget wont let us.

Some problems we talked about in the show are…

Where to Start: With the 100 different things we need to do to become more prepared it can be difficult to pick a direction and go for it. The most important thing to do in this situation is do your research and pick a direction…doing something is always better than doing nothing.

Managing Your Budget: We can only do what we can do, and it does us no good to go into deeper debt becoming more prepared. Try to become comfortable with the limitations of your budget, and use your money wisely.

Time Management: With everything else we have to do in our daily lives it can be tough to find time for preparedness. Setting realistic goals and setting “prepping time” aside will help you organize your time more effectively.

Confusion: As we are researching different areas of preparedness we can get pulled in 50 different directions causing us to become confused and unsure about where to go next. To solve this problem I use “just in time learning” and focusing on one problem at a time, and putting the other stuff on the back burner for later.

Being Alone on an Island: Because of the fact that most people we interact with on a daily basis are not preppers it can become pretty solitary. Joining prepper groups, forums or Facebook groups can help because you will have the chance to interact with other people doing the same things as you.

Getting Loved Ones On Board: For a lot of preppers they are the only ones in the house that see the importance of preparedness. If this is the case for you we go through this quite a bit in this episode. We also have this article that might be helpful.

Organization & Space: Depending on where we live having the space to put all these supplies can be a challenge. If you live in an apartment or small home you might need to think outside the box when if comes to storage.

Its a Lifestyle Not a Fad: If you treat prepping like a fad, or you are just doing what you enjoy and forgetting the other stuff that is just as important, you are not doing yourself any favors. We need to think of prepping as a lifestyle choice, none of us know when something might happen and we need to always be ready.

Don’t Become Obsessed: Becoming obsessed about one disaster is also dangerous. If we are looking in one direction and then all the sudden we get blindsided by something totally unexpected we are going to kick ourselves.

Panic Buying: Don’t fall for the…

“But This Now!”

“This Will Save Your Life!”

“They Are Going to Make us Take This Down”

“Act Now”

Take your time and do your research before you make a decision, The odds are you will find the same information free.

Survival and being prepared should not only be a passion, it should be a lifestyle. The definition of a prepper is "An individual or group that prepares or makes preparations in advance of, or prior to, any change in normal circumstances, without substantial resources from outside sources" Like the Government, police etc. I don't believe that the end of the world will be the "end of the world" I believe it will be the end of the world as we know it now.
