Podcast LogoToday in the show Lisa and I were going to talk about some survival kits we need as preppers, but we kind of lost track and started talking about anything and everything from emergency kits and supplies to preparedness procedures. It tuned out being a great show anyway with quite a bit of great information.

Here is a list that Lisa put together about what we talked about this week…

1. Everyday mini kit in the car
2. Larger car kit for extended road trips
3. Barn emergency first aid kit (for people)
4. Large super ultra home first aid kit
5. First aid kit for your pets
6. BOB first aid kits

But emergencies aren’t only related to first aid. We as preppers know an emergency can happen on any day, and at any time. SO we strive to be prepared for as many different emergencies as we can think of.
Some emergency kits that would be great to have, as preppers:

1. No grocery store for 2 weeks, emergency food storage
2. Black out emergency kit
3. Fire emergency kit
4. Pandemic emergency kit
5. Tornado emergency kit
6. Flash flood emergency kit
7. Hurricane emergency kit
8. Nuclear Fall out emergency kit
9. Blizzard/Snow emergency kit
10. GOOD (get out of dodge) emergency kit
11. Bug out bag
12. Car emergency kit -summer
13. Car emergency kit – winter
14. Gardening/survival garden emergency kit
15. When the water runs out emergency kit
16. Economic collapse, devaluation of the dollar emergency kit

Now this by no means is an all inclusive list of all of the types of emergencies you will need to prepare for, and I am sure there are others as well. But these are the areas that WE focus on, because the are the areas of concern for our family.

That is the great thing about being a prepper, you can customize it to what works best for you, and after all, isn’t that what we are all about? Being more self-reliant, and taking care of ourselves?

In the emergency kits that have been presented about, there are certain items that can go into multiple kits. And when you are just getting started, having one item to use in multiple kits is ok. And then as you move along through your emergency preparedness kits, you can build on each kit, and make each one stand alone, so then you will have multiple items, that can cover you for multiple uses during an event, or emergency.

Survival and being prepared should not only be a passion, it should be a lifestyle. The definition of a prepper is "An individual or group that prepares or makes preparations in advance of, or prior to, any change in normal circumstances, without substantial resources from outside sources" Like the Government, police etc. I don't believe that the end of the world will be the "end of the world" I believe it will be the end of the world as we know it now.
